As I find myself sitting in the church office on a Monday afternoon, I am looking out the window, watching the trees dance in the wind as the birds fly in and out of the trees.  It is a sunny day with a blue sky, and I am thinking about God’s creation and watching it on full display.

We are continuing our series on Rediscovering the Awe… Creation will be the focus this Sunday.

I encourage you to spend some time with Genesis 2:1-3 this week.

Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all their multitude. And on the seventh day God finished the work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all the work that he had done. So God blessed the seventh day and hallowed it, because on it God rested from all the work that he had done in creation.

God rested after creation, why?  Was God tired?  Did God need a break?  God didn’t need to rest because God was tired.  God rested to slow down and take time to enjoy what was created.  Every star, every tree, every animal, every flower each with its own unique characteristics, God paused, God rested to enjoy creation.

If creator God paused to enjoy creation, what does that mean for us?  What is the connection between Sabbath and having creation to inspire us and help us rediscover the Awe…

Join us this Sunday as we talk about it.
