This Sunday as we continue our Lenten observance, Created in the Image of God, Shaped by Jesus, our theme this week is… Called to life.

Our scriptures we are invited to look at this week are…

Ezekiel 37:1–14; Psalm 130; Romans 8:6–11; John 11:1–45

We have stories of dry bones, the psalmist’s cry “out of the depths”, and the death and resurrection of Lazarus, along with the hope we have from the Spirit from the words of Paul.

I am struck by the questions in these passages…

In Ezekiel 37:3 “Mortal, can these bones live?”

In John 11:37 “Could not he who opened the eyes of the blind man have kept this man from dying?”

There is also disappointment.  Disappointment from Ezekiel, from the Psalmist, from Mary and Martha.

There is death and new life in these passages.

How do you think God feels about your questions and disappointment?

Can you think of times when Jesus may have had questions or was disappointed?

If we as Jesus followers seek ongoing life transformation, what in our life needs to be let go, to be unbound, to die?

What is God asking us to let go?

What is getting in the way of our ongoing transformation.

Let’s talk about it on Sunday.
