We are starting a new message series this week.  This series will be our focus during the summer months.

The title of this message series is Interactions with Jesus.  We will be looking at some brief interactions that Jesus had with different people and see what we can learn form those interactions and see how to apply that to our lives.

This Sunday we will be looking at a lawyer who asked Jesus what the greatest commandment is?

Our scripture for this Sunday is

Matthew 22:34-40 (NRSV)  34 When the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together, 35 and one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question to test him. 36 “Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?” 37 He said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the greatest and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”

What stands out to you in this passage?

Are you surprised by Jesus’ response?

Pharisees believed there were over 600 commandments that needed to be followed.

Jesus says all the other commandments hang on these two.  As Jesus Followers, how well are we doing on these two “greatest commandments”?

Let’s talk about it on Sunday.
