This week as we continue our journey with the sermon on the mount, we will be looking at Matthew 5:3-6…

3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

5 “Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.

6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.

Do you notice a theme here?

Jesus is teaching about the blessed life.

What do you think Jesus means when he uses the word blessed?

Do you think Jesus is wanting us to be happy?  Do you think Jesus is looking to make us holy?  Do you think Jesus is giving us the secret to the “good life”?

What qualities do you think make up the “good life”?

Comfort, money, the right spouse, the right degree, the right job?

Do we want to inherit the kingdom of heaven, to be comforted, to be filled?

Jesus seems to be talking in riddles in our passage, what is Jesus talking about?

Let’s talk about it on Sunday.
