Are you starting to unwind from the holiday season?

Do you find yourself stressed out or too busy during the holidays, no matter how much you try to slow down and quiet yourself?

We are early into 2024, are you a new year resolution type of person?

This week, we are six weeks from the start of Lent.

For the next 5 weeks I want to invite us to Dwell in the Word.

This Sunday will be an introduction to our Dwelling in the Word series.

The scriptures for us to sit with this week are…

Psalm 91:1-2           New International Version

1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High

will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,

my God, in whom I trust.”

John 15:4-5             New International Version

Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

As I reflect back on the hustle and bustle of December and think about the upcoming preparations of Lent, I am drawn to the invitation of dwelling and abiding.

When you hear the words dwell and abide what do you think about?

Is there a difference between dwelling and abiding?

Jesus was on his way to the Garden of Gethsemane when he talked to the disciples about abiding.  Does that add to the significance of Jesus’ words on abiding?

Let’s talk about it on Sunday.
