July 6, 2025 – “I Didn’t Say That….Money is the Root of all Evil”

by Dustin Dawe | Jul 1, 2025 | I'm Engaged, Towards Sunday

When I was a kid, I remember playing a game with my parents and my sister.  It wasn’t an official game, and it centered around one question… “What would you do if you had a million dollars?”.  Our family took turns stating how we would spend the million...

June 29, 2025 – “I Didn’t Say That….God helps those who help themselves” Ephesians 2: 1-10

by Connie Detwiler | Jun 24, 2025 | I'm Engaged, Towards Sunday

Hello everyone! This coming Sunday’s wrongly-attributed-to-the-Bible scripture is “God helps those who help themselves,” which is a bit of a complex idea with a lot of various interpretations.  The phrase sounds somewhat like Biblical wisdom and is spoken often...

June 22, 2025 – “I Didn’t Say That….Everything Happens for a Reason”

by Joyce Lehman | Jun 18, 2025 | I'm Engaged, Towards Sunday

“Everything Happens For a Reason” by Pastor Carl Another phantom scripture that (spoiler alert) doesn’t exactly exist… But many have said it, always with the best of intentions, based on being convinced of God’s sovereignty in spite of our inability to make...

June 15, 2025 – “I Didn’t Say That….That’s Not Fair!”

by Dustin Dawe | Jun 10, 2025 | I'm Engaged, Towards Sunday

We are in the middle of VBS this week at Marion! This Sunday we will embrace the VBS vibe and our worship space and worship will reflect our VBS theme… True North.  As we continue our summer series of phantom scriptures, I am not going to tell you the phantom...

June 8, 2025 – “I Didn’t Say That…. God won’t give you more than you can handle”

by Dustin Dawe | Jun 3, 2025 | I'm Engaged, Towards Sunday

A couple years of years ago, 2021 to be specific, a famous (or maybe infamous) pastor tweeted the following statement… “God will not give you more than you can handle.  If you have a big challenge today, that means you have a big destiny.” I think we have all...

June 1, 2025 – “I Didn’t Say That…This too shall pass”

by Dustin Dawe | May 27, 2025 | I'm Engaged, Towards Sunday

It is officially summer! Sorry students if you are still in school, but according to the church calendar, June is the beginning of the summer quarter.  This summer we will be looking at common phrases that are attributed to being in the Bible, but they are...

Service is one of the simplest ways we reflect the hands and feet of Jesus. We’re thankful for Logan giving his time this summer to help others and for Kent’s faithful example of leadership and service. What a blessing it is to see multiple generations using their gifts to help build our community! ❤️🔨 ... See MoreSee Less

🎉 Wow!! What a week! 🎉While the weather may have changed our plans for Community Fun Night, it certainly didn’t dampen the fun!Although we had to forgo the bounce house and the much-anticipated dunk tank, we still enjoyed a wonderful evening together. A special thank you to Antietam Dairy for joining us and serving delicious ice cream to our community! 🍦The face painting was a hit, and it was a joy to watch children spending time outdoors, using their imaginations, making friends, and simply being kids.Throughout the week, our VBS families also raised money for Mercy Ships, an organization close to our hearts through our own Tasha Lentz, who volunteers with their ministry. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our children, families, and church community, we raised over $500 for Mercy Ships and counting! ❤️Because of their amazing efforts, Pastor Dustin had to keep his promise! 😆 The kids were thrilled to shave his head and beard, and the best part? He’s keeping the new look through Sunday… including for his driver’s license photo tomorrow! 🚗✂️As we wrap up this week, we want to extend our deepest gratitude to Lisa Tissue for the countless hours, dedication, and love she pours into making VBS such a special experience year after year. We are also incredibly thankful for our worship team, skit participants, station leaders, snack volunteers, motion leaders, group leaders, tech booth crew, and every volunteer who helped make this week possible. Most importantly, thank you to the parents who entrusted us with your children and to the kids who filled our church with laughter, energy, excitement, and generous hearts all week long.God has blessed us with an amazing church family, and we are so grateful for each and every one of you. ❤️ ...
