Breaking Bread with Jesus … and the Pharisees

1. Pharisees are often seen as the ‘bad guys’ in the bible. Religious guys who were opposed to Jesus. But in those days many issues of Godliness and faithfulness took place through sorting and discussion rather than reading and lectures. Who in your life is a worthy
conversation partner when it comes to matters of faith and life?
2. James Miller and I ate our first breakfast in Palestine around a table. Our hosts knew little English and we knew no Arabic. They motioned us to crack open hard-boiled eggs and to scoop humus with Taboon bread. When coffee was mentioned, we both nodded
our heads with an eager ‘yes.’ But coffee was not served at the breakfast table. Instead, we were ushered into the cushion comforts in their living room where espresso and conversations became blended. Can you remember a time when having a conversation
over meal/or coffee became an atmosphere for a deeper understanding?
