Happy Tuesday Church Family,
As we continue with our Lenton theme of Christ Collides, this week we are looking at how Christ collides with our priorities. Our scripture is on the longer side this week with 3 very familiar parables…
Luke 15:1-32
Go ahead and take some time to read this passage.
Go ahead, I’ll wait…
Was I right, did you recognize the three parables?
As we think about our theme of Christ Collides, what in these three parables collided into you as you read it.
I didn’t make it very far. Honestly, I didn’t even make it to the first parable.
Verse two of Luke chapter fifteen is where my first collision happened…
“This man (Jesus) welcomes sinners and eats with them.”
This is what the Pharisees and the legal experts said about Jesus.
What does that statement mean to you?
Do you hear it as an accusation or as an invitation?
There is no denying the statement is true.
It feels like judgement from the Pharisees and Scribes, in some way Jesus is less than because of who and how he chooses to relate to. But at a deeper level, their words are Jesus’ message of love, acceptance, and relationship.
When we read the verse two, do we read it as an indictment of Jesus or as a celebration of who Jesus is?
What about when you read the three parables?
Do you think about something that was lost, or something that was found?
What might this passage say about our priorities?
Let’s talk about it on Sunday.
