“Love is blind, and lovers cannot see”.

This quote is from Jessica in Act 2 scene 6 of “The Merchant of Venice” by William Shakespeare.

Is love blind?

It is a popular phrase.  Perhaps you have even used the phrase.  In my preparation for this message I have recently found out it is also the name of a dating reality shown on Netflix.  Although I have never seen the show, I don’t think the show is family friendly.

This week my request is that you spend some time in 1 Corinthains.  Most of us are aware of the “love” chapter… chapter 13.  But this week, my ask is that you read 1 Corinthains chapters 12 through 14.    Too often we look at 1 Corinthains chapter 13 as a stand-alone chapter.  I don’t think that was Paul’s intention.

As you read these three chapters, what connection do you see between these three chapters?

What do you think Paul’s message is to the folks at the church in Corinth?

Is that message still relevant for us in 2025?

Does it have any connection to the phrase, love is blind?

What are your thoughts about the phrase, love Is blind?

Let’s talk about it on Sunday.

I came across this song, and I really liked it, so I thought I would share it…
