This week as we examine another phrase that isn’t found in the Bible, I realize I might get myself in trouble.
I am no stranger to getting into trouble.
This week I am going to disagree with Oprah Winfrey.
I know I am such a rebel…
In 2018, at the Golden Globes Oprah said, “Speaking your truth is the most powerful weapon we all have.”
On Sunday, I want to push back against this thought that we should speak our truth.
Speak your truth…
Like most of the sayings we have looked at this summer, on the surface this statement doesn’t sound all bad. In fact, you could argue that to a certain degree, this is good advice.
But when does this thinking fall apart?
When does this type of thinking cause us to think a little more highly of ourselves than what is healthy?
What is our source of truth?
“truly I tell you” is stated by Jesus 78 times.
