This Sunday the youth will be sharing about our recent service trip to Harrisburg. We will be taking a break from Luke to look at this Colossians passage.
Colossians 3:11-17 NIV
11 “Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.
12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
A blueprint shows an intentional plan to build something great. The Bible, too, shows us God’s best plan for our lives. In this passage, Paul tells Jesus followers how they can reclaim the image of their Creator. He is giving us a blueprint to live the life we were created to live.
A prototype is the first or best of its kind. Jesus came as both fully God and fully human. He perfectly embodied the image of God, shared in His mission, and lived out His plan. So, if we want to be the people we were created to be, watch Jesus. He’s the prototype who showed us a new way to live.
Launch. What am I launching? You wouldn’t invent a great product just to pack it away. You’d share it! As God develops new qualities in us, don’t leave them in storage. Plan to put them into practice. Let’s make God’s mission our mission.
See you Sunday,
